About Places
Places documents the locations that shape the mountain landscape and the experience of moving through it. The archive ranges from alpine villages and historic towns to mountain passes, roads, valleys and less familiar corners of the Alps.
The articles combine photography with research into the history, geography and character of each place. Some are destinations in their own right, while others are locations encountered while travelling through the mountains. Together they form a record of the landscapes, settlements and routes that make up the wider Alpine region.
Published across the Super Alpine archive, these features cover locations in Switzerland, France, Italy and beyond, recording places as they are encountered rather than treating them simply as destinations.
